As long as you have a Vagina, you don't have to worry...#what's awesome about our Judicial System

After repeated exclamations in my Facebook feed about who doesn't care about this case, I decided it was mandatory to attempt an explanation to the ignorant masses about why you should give a shit that this case ended the way it did.

At the end of May of this year, the Supreme Court ordered California to release 46,000 inmates to deal with its massive overcrowding problem. Currently, California has a mandatory life sentence sort of law which states that anyone convicted of a felony crime 3 times must spend the rest of their life behind bars. What does that mean exactly in idiot terminology? If you ride around with an ounce of weed and are caught 3 times, you will go to jail for life. You will be in prison with child molesters, rapists, those who plead guilty to lesser charges but who really committed 1st degree murder, and the list goes on. Would you be one of the required 46,000 prisoners to be released? Don't bet on it. Don't bet on even 23,000 prisoners being those who committed victimless crimes like drug offenses or prostitution. What will most likely happen as explained on foxnews is for actual criminals--rapists, molesters, violent offenders--to be released into the public so that California's population won't mind so much when it comes to paying higher taxes for more prisons to be built. And the stoner guy who got caught one too many times on the way home from his dealer's house will remain behind bars for life. And why? Prisons  are economical safe-bets. They bring in money. Always.

What's even worse is that child killers apparently don't warrant much time behind bars at all as we were shown by the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial today. The jury has decided this case wasn't proven beyond a reasonable doubt despite the  evidence against Anthony. One thing is for certain, if my child turned up in a bag with duct tape wrapped around her head, the last thing I would do is write I'm the happiest I've ever been in my diary.

Most of my peers don't seem to be bothered by this all that much nor does a good percentage of the American public...

I think we need to be a little more worried about what our judicial system is saying when drug offenders get chosen over baby killers to spend life in prison. The government wants you to be victimized. The government wants you to live in fear. The government gets what they want out of you that way. Start thinking for yourself.
